SOS Software

AppleBefore purchasing any of our software it is highly recommended that you try any available demo first. This also applies if your system meets the specification indicated on the relevant page(s) of the software, or even if it does not, as it could still run at an acceptable speed.

Basic requirements

All Apple Mac software should require a specification of OS X version 10.3 or later, 256 MB of RAM and a 3D capable graphics card with at least 16MB of RAM. These are average guidelines and the complexity of a particular piece of software may require more or less than these recommendations. We recommend trying any available demo for non-free software before purchasing.

PowerPC and Intel Macs

All our software is now tested on both the PowerPC and Intel variants of the Mac. If you already have the PPC version of a game, it will still work just fine on an Intel Mac, as the required emulation will kick in automatically. We are now releasing games built for a specific platform or the option of a universal binary that will work on both platforms with no need for emulation.

Installation

All software is currently in the compressed disk image form (DMG). To install simply double-click on the file once it has downloaded. This should then mount and display the contents of the disk image.

Inside you will find a folder named the same as the software that you have downloaded. It's then simply a case of copying that folder to your Applications folder to complete the installation. Once that has been done you can unmount the disk by right-clicking the disk image and selecting "Eject".

Running the software is then simply a matter of double-clicking on the main executable icon, which will be called the same as the software. Also look out for "read me" or files with "instructions" in the title, as these will provide detailed instructions on the software that you have downloaded.
